Staying in touch

On days when Kyle wasn't too sleepy, we talked to Papa after lunch on Skype from the hotel lobby.

Hanging out in Italy

Camp Il Ciocco

On our final day at the conference, Grandma and Kyle got to go to the resort's "camp", which meant new toys for Kyle to play with (otherwise he was limited to the mere suitcase full of toys that I had brought).

New friends

A few other colleagues of mine were also crazy enough to bring their kids to the conference at Il Ciocco.

The new love of Kyle's life is 8-year-old Nina (in the headband, below).

Kyle also had a lot of meals with Lucas; this meant that they each got to play with the other's toys while we parents tried to convince them to get back in their seats and eat some more dinner.

The more things change...

Italy was definitely different from home, but some things always stay the same. Like Kyle loving the playground, where Grandma took him every morning.

Eating in Italy

What better way to experience Italy than through food?

Kyle enjoyed pizza,

pasta,

oatmeal (his usual, brought from home),

breadsticks,

more pizza,

and also gelato (no picture of that - things got a bit too sticky).

At the conference, meals were sometimes a bit too long for Kyle, so he also got to play in his highchair while we had dessert.

Pisa!

Thanks to what amounted to a bring-your-family-to-work-week grant, Kyle and my mom were able to accompany to a recent conference in Tuscany.

We spent the first day in Pisa, where we caught up a bit with the time difference,

bought a week's worth supply of diapers and snacks

reacquanted ourselves with Grandma

and of course saw the famous leaning tower and a few other historic sites.

Hot Dogs and Pickles

Kyle has just recently discovered hot dogs. Not surprising that he loves them...

...VERY surprising on the other hand that he loves pickles. This is his "sour" face:

Cambodia T Shirt

A great gift from Grandma and Grandpa

Father's Day

While taking a break from our bike ride...

...a quick stop at the river became an impromptu swim
