Before we had Kyle, we were worried we wouldn't be able to interpret his cries. There was no need to worry: we've realized that it's remarkably easy to know when Kyle is hungry - he'll try to eat anything:
It's also important to note that Kyle is hungry pretty much all the time. He has a bad habit of nursing from 6 to 10 pm straight...

Drag over a baby
I'm sure all of you have always wondered what the drag force over a baby is. Well, we just ran the experiment in our living room. It seems like the usual scaling holds (drag ~ velocity squared), but we haven't been able to determine the drag coefficient because of the unsteadiness of the projected area. Also, we're not too sure about the boundary layer on the carpet. We'll let you know when our results get published (in Nature for sure).

The incredible growing baby
Kyle had his second pediatrician visit today. Somehow, between Friday and today, Kyle has gained about 12 oz (the doctor would have been happy with an ounce a day)! I guess this explains why the little guy is nursing (and pooping) all the time, and also why mom is so hungry all the time! The good news is that we now have permission to let him sleep 4 hours in a row at night without waking up to eat, and also, those newborn diapers are fitting way better now!
